Challenge:
For a non-profit organization in the U.S., it was a large-scale global event that should achieve the attention and participation of developers all over the world, including Asia, Europe, and Africa as well as the U.S. Thus, in having to proceed with promotion for developers in various countries, we had to proceed media relations along with the establishment of message strategies for each country and each continent. Moreover, it was necessary to conduct the global media communication business, concerning the establishment of messages considering various interested parties in the situation in which we need to attract investment and have support from several institutions and the government.
Approach:
First off, before establishing messages and media strategies for individual countries, we proposed comprehensive message communication strategies, concentrating on the key goal of the Global Hackathon, the interest and participation of developers all over the world.
Also, to secure the recognition of an emergent organization, The Global Hackathon, we would draw attention from the government and enterprises, proceeding with interviews with the heads of organizations by major media. Most of all, considering each country’s sentiment and media’s properties in detail in the main message, we proceeded with media relations, establishing the detailed communication strategies and messages.
Furthermore, to attract the attention of the government, large enterprises, and global organizations, we strategically analyzed each interested person and established each message and proceeded with communication, based on that.
Impact:
The Global Hackathon secured a total of 103 media coverage, and it has also been introduced in American TechCrunch, French Le Monde, Korean KBS TV, the famous media in Africa, China, and the Philippines. In addition, Seoul’s support was made, also, support was made for the event by the U.N. and major large enterprises, and the partnership was concluded. We proceeded with communications with the global enterprises that sympathize with the value and vision pursued by the Global Hackathon.
Above all, as the event of Hackathon drew attention from the general public as well as the developers, it was selected as the world that was mentioned most often in the media in the year.
